A different thing to thank God for, even the small stuff, one for every day of 2014
Tuesday, 30 September 2014
I used this picture a long time ago but it is very appropriate again as the long list of appointments for mum and OH plus some other things I had to do has now cleared for a whole fortnight and I shall be spending the next three days getting organised and ready for the grand rearrangement of the furniture which I am looking forward to. Then will come the grand rearrangement of the contents of the furniture. Yes, I am looking forward to that too
I can't think of a picture that would be appropriate. Our Bible Study group is a blessing, we support each other and often end up talking about things that have nothing to do with the Bible Study, but always feel that God is in what we end up talking about. Someone shared some very sad news that shocked us all and it was a good thing we heard it together

This post is a day (almost 2 days) late. I have had a bit to do for mum and OH and that has left me rather achy and tired and uninspired. Not that there were no blessings, but I was lacking the brain power to think of anything to write. So, nostalgia, sometimes that's a good thing, here's a picture of me when I was about 8

What a blessing it is when things start to fall into place! I have been deperately trying to organise things so that we could book a date with the removal men, or, more accurately, the moval men as we are just rearranging. This morning we felt ready to take the plunge and now we have a date it means I can relax and spend more time with mum today, concentrate on my sermon for Sunday and take hubby out tomorrow and then finish of the shifting of the stuff next week. Load has lifted, feelin' good!

Many churches will be having the Harvest Festival next Sunday. My harvest was rather small this year, what with the blighted tomatoes and the non-existent peas, but the physalis (Cape gooseberry) have been lovely. There are loads of blackberries to be picked but I can't find any sloes and I don't think I will have time to get any more for a week or two by which time they will be gone.
Harvest time is special, a time to thank God for the blessing of good food and fresh produce and not a plastic wrapping in sight!

Slept well last night and managed to stay awake all day. Did a few bits of stuff that needed doing and then I sat down and drew you all a picture. Early night again tonight, another medical appointment for mum tomorrow.
The blessing is that it is a clinic that has a session at her own GP surgery so we don't have to go to the hospital this time.

The brain fog lifted a bit today and I have actually got round to making an appointment with the man who is going to do the furniture shifting for us. So I have been planning in my head as well as doing a bit more sorting. And I have my PC back! HURRAH!
I am having to learn that a small advance is a blessing because it isn't a retreat!

I was astonished to discover that being alone with one's thoughts is such a trial for so many people. I picked one report at random but there were many relating to this particular study and if you want to learn more Go HERE
For me, the chance to sit quietly and undisturbed is a blessing.

I was going to draw a picture of a bat but I am still without the PC so can't upload it. This picture of dusk will have to do. So, last night, as it was about this light(or dark, if you prefer) I saw the return of a couple of welcome visitors, namely, the bats! It's another one of those things that have a special meaning for me, too complicated and personal to explain here, but I felt blessed to see them.

My proper computer has gone for a check up so I am restricted to those photos I have put into Picassa for the time being. My garden is looking particularly good at the moment because my lovely friend Sally has been giving it a severe talking too. She is a blessing because her hard work encourages me to try and do some too. I will post some photos on FB in a bit

My day twisted and turned today and in a funny way it was a blessing that my friend didn't have time to meet for coffee as I decided to postpone the joys of Ipswich for another time. I went to the auction viewing at Campsea Ashe, then to Wickham Market, Wyevale and the antique centre in Woodbridge. Oh and I stopped off at Farm Cafe in Marlesford too and had a HUGE cheese scone and a double espresso. My lovely OH wanted to buy me a proper present and we agreed I would look for something silver and I had a long and interesting talk with the man in WAC and got a nice little piece in there. Tired but happy!

Sometimes I find it a bit difficult to find something different to say now. Some of the things I mentioned when I started in January wouldn't hurt to be reprised, but today I drew a few doodles and this one made me think of something. It looks like an ear with a hearing aid to me. (I know, I know, but they are going to increase my medication soon)
Any aid to better hearing has to be a blessing, doesn't it? So it's a blessing I can keep my patience with OH who hardly every wears his.

Not all blessings (and I know some people have an issue with the word but come with me on this) are just plonked into our laps. Some do need a bit of effort, but it should always be worth it. I am thinking today about the times when we fall out with people, maybe just a row, or maybe a disapproval of something the other person does (or, of course, their disapproval of something we do) But it does us harm to harbour grudges, or refuse to try and see things from the other person's point of view. At worst it can seriously damage what might otherwise have been a good relationship. It's something that needs time and effort and prayer but if you can forgive, even better, forget, then a friendship can be stronger and even if that doesn't happen you will find an inner peace
