This photo was taken about 5 years ago at Sutton Hoo, when mum could still totter along with her wheels.  She has given permission to tell you this story.  She had a hospital appointment yesterday and when it was over I had to go and get the car, so I left her in the reception area, parked alongside a lie of chairs.  When I got back I saw a friend who came to say a few words.  Then mum said,"When are you going to get the wheelchair"  "What wheelchair" I said. "The one to take me out to the car" she said.  My friend and I looked at her. "Oh, I'm sitting in it aren't I" she said.  Oh we did larf.  And that's the blessing, that mum and I do still have lots of laughs!

I always feel stupidly pleased with myself when I manage to take on technology and win!  Yesterday evening I sat down, determined to find out if I could get the mp3 files that I have on the amazon cloud onto my generic mp3 player.  It took a bit of working out because the player came with no proper instructions, but I did it.  I am now about to see if I can get iTunes on it as well. Wish me luck!
It worked, even tho' they weren't mp3 files. Hurrah!

It would be exceptionally unfair of me to inflict a photo of my wonky teeth on you all without "enhancing" it in some way.  I went to the dentist. Nothing needs doing and they are now shiny and sparkly clean

I have been trying to come up with some clever abstract allegorical picture for this post. I've given up, have some flowers instead.  I am feeling a bit soppy actually, so forgive me if I am being a bit sentimental today but I have really had it brought home to me that, while it is lovely to have friends who are there when you need them, it is really special when you realise that they need you too.

Back in the 1980s there was this sci-fi series called Max Headroom.  I have always thought I would like to watch it again but it never came out on DVD.  A couple of days ago I discovered that the whole thing is on YouTube.  I love modern technology.

The cherry tree that was much too close to the boundary was chopped down yesterday.  I bought a fancy thing to hang the bird feeders on and took some delight in watching the sparrows, clearly bemused, but then deciding that it probably was still safe.

Although my birthday isn't until next month, my mum and my hubby clubbed together to buy me an electric embossing/cutting machine.  Well, I had to unpack it to make sure it worked, didn't I!  This die is one that I have never been able to cut successfully with the hand cranked machine so I am very pleased with it.

Having the sort of mind that sees absurdity in all sorts of places keeps me amused, even if it simply keeps other people bemused.  Whenever I see this on my desktop I think of multi-coloured sugar strands falling from the sky

I had to say my piece earlier on FB andTwitter as I am not able to sit at the PC and at that point couldn't work out how to do the blog post on the iPad. What I said was that I am blessed with lovely friends who try to cheer me up.  So here's a picture of a spider in the bath to give you all a laugh. xxx

I was here until 8.25 this morning, I didn't set the alarm last night (deliberately) and I had a lovely lie in.

When you don't have paid work, or you work from home, then Bank Holidays are a bit of a non-event but for me it means my Monday afternoon is free so I shall be going to an Antique Fair 'cos I really need more stuff (irony)

There is something vaguely anarchic about deciding not to finish reading a particular book.  When I had to read things for school seems to have made me forget that I am free to stop if I am not enjoying it

A few nights ago I realised that I couldn't find my house keys. I became increasingly convinced that I had left them hanging in the lock and that someone had taken them. At about 11.30 we barricaded ourselves in for the night and in the morning hubby started to look for a locksmith while I, with faint hope, continued to search.  I did find them, of course, although why they were where they were I shall never understand.  The relief for both of us was enormous!

The picture is just random today, I took it on my phone at Sutton Hoo.
The nice thing that happened yesterday was that one of the teenagers at church come and talked to me, of her own free will! And it was a very interesting conversation.  I always feel rather privileged when a "young person" feels I am worth talking to.

I told myself I would have to just go with the flow this week, and probably next week as well.  It is working and I'm quite enjoying myself!

With the "men" here I can't really do anything in my room so I decided to make a start on the garage. Progress was made, more today.
